Cape Town opens its Second EV charging station in Somerset West

It looks like Cape Town is ready for the electric vehicle revolution. The city has unveiled its latest EV charging station located in the parking area of the Somerset West Civic Centre. The EV Charger was donated to the City by the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation.

Electric transport key to climate action:

In support of the growing global momentum to tackle climate change, Cape Town, along with cities in South Africa and worldwide, has committed to achieving carbon neutrality and climate resilience by 2050. This goal can, however, only be reached through significant transitions in urban form, energy sources, transportation and resource efficiency. A key element is cleaning up sources of electricity and the electrification of transport around the Western Cape, and South Africa as a whole.
